MotherHood

If I could write with diamond pen,
Use ink of flowering gold
The love I have for my mother dear
Could then not half be told
Her sympathy has been my sky,
Her love my guiding light,
Her gentle hand hath soothed my ills,
She's ever guided right

A precious friend has mother been,
Stood by me all the way
The sacrifice has been too great;
Such love one can't repay.

So wonderful has mother been,
So gentle kind and good,
That I have learned to reverence
That sweet word, "Motherhood"
